I'm back!!!

Here I am spending an hour trying to find my blog - I know I had one - I know I did this -where is it!  Finally it occurred to me to look back on my facebook timeline and there it was!  A link to 4 years ago when my life was following a totally different path.  I was a stay at home mom to my two kids and had "won" a spot in the famous Escape from Alcatraz triathlon.  I was so starstruck by the chance to go to San Francisco and race that I had to document it.

Fast forward 4 and a half years and although my day to day life has taken on a totally different exsistance, I'm still participating in triathlons and loving it.  Today I am still a mom but kids my are now  full time in school.  I'm still married to my best friend and number one supporter.  Instead of being a stay at home mom and juggling motherhood with training, I'm now back working full time and juggling work, training and family.  Since 2012 I've raced triathlon distances ranging from sprint to half ironman.  I completed 2 half ironmans and proved to myself I could do more then I ever thought possible.  I thought I was on track to complete a full IM but my true love got in the way.

I've always dabbled in off road (XTERRA) events but last year I decided I was done with the road and only did off road (and loved it!)  I would take a mountain bike over a road bike 100 out of 100 times any day!!!

Last year I was lucky enough to go to Penticton for the ITU Canadian Championships and competed in the cross (off road event).  This resulted in qualifying for Worlds this year (again in Penticton)  To be honest, everyone in my age category qualified but I wasn't last :)  So here I am training for Worlds - Worlds - how professional does that sound! And I figure while I'm at it I might as well take a stab at the full XTERRA distance in Canmore and see if I can qualify for XTERRA Worlds (which is on a way higher level then ITU worlds when it comes to off road).  Its a long shot - I've looked at times and I'm no where close to what I need to be for the run but I've hired a coach and it wouldn't be a challenge if it was easy, right?  So hey, what do I have to lose?!
